In-house innovation by OPaL’s Fire Services team earns national recognition at Fire India Awards 2026

ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL) has achieved a significant milestone in technology- driven safety by winning the “Digital Transformation in Fire & Life Safety Award 2026” at the Fire India Awards, presented by The Institution of Fire Engineers (India).

The award recognises OPaL’s Quick Response Planner (QRP) and Mass Notification System – Integrated Digital Emergency Response System, an indigenous solution conceptualised, designed and developed entirely in-house by OPaL’s Fire Services team. The integrated platform strengthens emergency preparedness through automated emergency communication, tactical response planning and digital coordination of emergency responders, enabling a more structured and coordinated response.

What makes this achievement particularly noteworthy is that the solution was developed using OPaL’s in-house expertise, with negligible external expenditure. The recognition underscores the team’s commitment to innovation, resource optimisation and continuous improvement in safety practices, while bringing OPaL’s technological capabilities to the national spotlight.

Further enhancements are underway, with phased integration of the Fire & Gas Detection System, site meteorological data, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) linkage and the Mass Notification System to progressively strengthen the platform’s capabilities.

The award was received by OPaL’s Fire Services team at a ceremony held on 28 September 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, during the 20th edition of Fire India, the country’s flagship international conference and exhibition on fire and life safety.

OPaL's entry was assessed by an independent Awards Jury against a structured, research- led framework, in open competition with submissions from across India's fire and life safety industry. The award is therefore a third-party validation of the work done in-house at Dahej, and it places OPaL's emergency preparedness capability alongside the best in the industry.

This recognition reflects OPaL’s continued commitment to leveraging indigenous innovation and digital solutions to strengthen safety, enhance emergency response capabilities and advance operational excellence.
