OPaL Observes Fire Service Week 2026 with Strong Commitment to Safety
  • April - 2026

At ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL), safety is not merely a priority-it is a deeply embedded value that guides every action and decision across the organization.

Every year, April 14 is observed as Martyrs' Day to honour the 66 brave firefighters who lost their lives during the 1944 Bombay Dock Explosion at Victoria Dock, Mumbai. As part of Fire Service Week (14-21 April 2026), Team OPaL came together to pay tribute to the indomitable spirit and supreme sacrifice of firefighters who laid down their lives in the line of duty while protecting countless lives and communities. Their legacy continues to inspire us to remain vigilant, prepared, and committed to safety excellence.

The observance commenced with the Fire Service Week pledge administered across all OPaL locations, symbolizing our collective commitment to fire safety. The week-long campaign aimed to promote fire safety awareness across workplaces, schools, hospitals, and communities throughout India under the theme:

"Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society - Together for Fire Prevention."

At the Vadodara office, the pledge was administered by Shri Gurinder Singh, MD, in the presence of Shri Sanjay Varma, Director - Marketing & Corporate Strategy; Shri Sanjay Bharti, Director - Finance & Commercial & CFO; Mr. Amit Kaul, Head - HR; along with other senior leaders and Team Vadodara.

At Dahej, Shri Arup Jhampri, COO, led the pledge ceremony with enthusiastic participation from Heads of Departments and team members. Similar ceremonies held across OPaL locations reinforced the shared responsibility and organization-wide importance of fire safety.

As part of the observance, OPaL organized a series of engaging competitions for employees, contractors, and fire personnel, including:

  • Slogan and poster competitions for employees and contractors
  • SCBA competition for employees and contractors
  • Fire extinguisher handling competition for contractors
  • Plant fire system competition
  • 50-meter fireman lift competition for fire personnel

The closing ceremony and prize distribution for the winners of these competitions were organized on 01.05.2026.

At OPaL, fire safety is everyone's responsibility. Together, we continue to foster a culture that is vigilant, resilient, and proactive-ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all.
