ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL) has once again been honoured with the prestigious Export Excellence Award in Mumbai for the bygone FY 2023–24 and FY 2024–25, marking the its 5th consecutive recognition by the Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL), endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

This esteemed award is a testament to OPaL’s consistent commitment to excellence and trust in brand “OPaL”. Shri Vivek Mehta, GM–Marketing, and Shri Neeraj Kumar, DGM–Marketing, were conferred the award by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, making the achievement even more significant and memorable for Team OPaL.

This recognition carries exceptional weight given PLEXCONCIL’s stature as India’s the only apex body for the plastics industry. Established by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in 1955, PLEXCONCIL has, for seven decades, plays a pivotal role in promoting India as a reliable global supplier of world-class plastic products. Receiving this honour underscores the scale of OPaL’s achievement on the national and international stage.

OPaL has once again reaffirmed its position as a trusted global force and a proud ambassador of India’s polymer capabilities. This consistent recognition highlights OPaL’s unwavering commitment to quality, reliability, and responsible growth, values that align strongly with the nation’s vision of “Made in India.”

The event of excellence awards was marked by insightful speech by Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry. Reflecting on the industry’s performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shri Piyush Goyal praised the plastics sector for demonstrating exceptional resilience and national service by rapidly manufacturing critical products such as medical supplies, PPE components, packaging materials, and essential goods within the country. This, he said, showcased India’s capacity to meet urgent national needs while maintaining global supply commitments.

Shri Goyal shared with the forum that India is a dependable and trusted global sourcing hub, driven by its quality, reliability, and competitive manufacturing strengths. He further shared that when the Council was founded, India’s plastics exports stood at USD 16.5 million. Today, they exceed USD 12.5 billion, with Indian plastic products reaching more than 200 countries. He further urged the industry to build on this momentum by expanding outreach, diversifying product portfolios, and capitalising on the new trade opportunities emerging through India’s expanding FTA network so as to double exports from India in next five years.

“Each awardee represents a story of resilience, innovation, and excellence”, he said. Their efforts have strengthened India’s exports, advanced technology, generated employment, and reinforced global trust in the “Made in India” brand for quality and reliability. Adding to the significance of the occasion, the award ceremony formed part of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of PLEXCONCIL, commemorating 70 years of dedicated service to India’s export ecosystem. The event was graced by senior government officials, eminent trade leaders, and distinguished global dignitaries, making OPaL’s accomplishment even more noteworthy.

As OPaL steps confidently into its next phase of growth, this milestone reinforces the organisation’s resolve to drive innovation, strengthen customer trust, and champion excellence on the world stage enlivening central theme of the Hon’ble Minister:
