Celebrating International Women’s Day at OPaL

As 8 March fell on a Sunday, OPaL celebrated International Women’s Day on Friday, 6 March 2026 with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and empowering workplace. The occasion served as a meaningful platform to acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable contributions of women while inspiring continued progress toward gender equality and empowerment.

A key highlight of the celebration was an insightful health awareness session delivered by Dr. Ankita Patel, Consultant – Internal Medicine at Zydus Hospital, Vadodara. In her engaging address, Dr. Patel spoke about women’s health priorities, covering important topics such as cancer awareness, fitness, preventive healthcare, and overall well-being. Drawing upon more than a decade of extensive clinical experience, she shared valuable insights on the management of lifestyle and chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, and infectious diseases. The session also emphasized the importance of preventive care and adopting a balanced approach to health while managing professional and personal responsibilities.

These recognitions reaffirm OPaL’s commitment to strengthening India’s petrochemicals ecosystem through sustainable practices, innovation, and efficient resource management. The awards highlight the company’s consistent efforts in driving performance excellence while aligning with national priorities on energy conservation and sustainable industrial development.

Addressing the gathering, Managing Director Mr. Gurinder Singh delivered an inspiring message encouraging women to break the “glass ceiling” and confidently pursue opportunities across all spheres. He emphasized that women’s active participation in every field not only empowers individuals but also contributes significantly to building a stronger and more progressive society. His motivating words resonated deeply with the OPaLians, reinforcing the importance of determination, self-belief, and equal opportunities.

Adding further perspective to the celebration, Shri Sanjay Verma, Director – Marketing and Corporate Strategy, reflected on the evolving role of women in society. He noted that the opportunities and perceptions surrounding women during his childhood were very different from what we see today. Acknowledging the remarkable transformation over the years, he highlighted how women are now excelling and leading across diverse fields.

Shri Sanjay Bharati, Director – Finance & Commercial and CFO, also shared his thoughts on the Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain.” He emphasized that true societal progress is achieved when women are provided with education, employment opportunities, empowerment, and equal rights. By investing in women and creating an enabling environment, society ultimately gains stronger communities, sustainable development, and a more equitable future.

The session proved highly beneficial, offering practical insights and encouraging women to prioritize their health and well-being. Women employees from Vadodara participated in person, while colleagues from Dahej joined virtually through video conferencing, making the interaction inclusive and engaging for all.

The celebrations continued in the afternoon with a street-style themed lunch, where women employees enjoyed delicious food, lively conversations, and a relaxed atmosphere. The festive spirit was further enlivened with music, dance, and fun activities, creating joyful moments and strengthening bonds among colleagues.

The event concluded with a movie screening, giving women employees an opportunity to unwind and spend the rest of the day together in a spirit of camaraderie and celebration.
