OPaL Empowers Cyber Awareness Through Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2025
As part of the Vigilance Awareness Campaign 2025, ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL), Vadodara, organized a Capacity Building Program on Cyber Hygiene and Security on 9th October 2025. The initiative aimed to educate employees on responsible digital practices and enhance awareness about evolving cyber threats in today’s interconnected world.
The session was conducted by Mr. Mahendra Motwani from the Cyber Cell, Vadodara, who shared valuable insights on maintaining cyber safety and protecting personal as well as organizational data.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from OPaL’s senior leadership, including Shri Gurinder Singh, Managing Director, Shri Sanjay Varma, Director – Marketing & Corporate Strategy, Shri Vijay Iyah, Head – Materials Management, Shri Amit Kaul, Head – Human Resources, Shri Jati Panigrahi, General Manager – Finance, Shri Utkarsh Srivastava, Senior Manager – Vigilance, along with other senior officials and employees.

Mr. Motwani emphasized the growing importance of cyber hygiene in an era where technology and data are integral to daily operations. He drew attention to the increasing frequency and sophistication of cybercrimes, underscoring the need for individuals to remain vigilant and informed.

Explaining the behavioral causes that often lead individuals to fall victim to cybercrimes — Greed, Fear, Ignorance, and Carelessness — Mr. Motwani elaborated on various forms of cyber threats, including:
- Phishing, Vishing, and Smishing attacks
- Banking and financial frauds
- Fake lottery and investment schemes
- SIM swaps and online shopping scams
Cyber Safety Best Practices
Mr. Motwani encouraged participants to adopt the following cyber-safe habits:
- Use strong, unique, and complex passwords
- Avoid clicking on suspicious links or attachments
- Refrain from sharing sensitive personal or financial details online
- Stay informed and exercise caution while navigating digital platforms
