On the 15th of November 2024, ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL) marked its 18th Foundation Day, and on the 28th of November, OPaLians gathered with immense pride to celebrate this significant milestone at the OPaL Dahej plant premises and Vadodara office. It was a day full of joy, reflection, motivation and memories as the OPaL family came together to honour 18 years of excellence, overcoming challenges, and collective determination.
The celebrations commenced with a warm welcome from Shri Amit Kaul, Head - HR, who highlighted the importance of this occasion, setting the tone for the day's festivities. Many esteemed dignitaries took the stage to share their insights and congratulations. Shri Vijay Iyah, Head – MM, aptly remarked that as OPaL turns 18, it enters adulthood and the ability to make important decisions, symbolizing strength, taking major responsibilities after overcoming numerous hurdles.
Shri Lalitesh Kumar, Head - CTS, congratulated all OPaLians, he highlighted the focus on improving achievements and adhering to the mantra: Making more, Selling more, and Earning more. Shri G. Moolnarayan, Head - Polymers, reflected on OPaL's emphasized that with increased powers come greater responsibilities and accountabilities, urging all to strive for excellence in the years to come. Shri Vikas Agarwal, Head - Maintenance, recalled the challenges of the year 2017-18, emphasizing the resilience that has propelled OPaL to success with collective efforts. Shri Rajeev Vijay, Head – U&O, spoke about the transformative restructuring within OPaL, exuding confidence that the company will continue its upward trajectory, aiming for ‘Positive PAT’ by the 19th OPaL Day. Shri Arup Jampri, COO, highlighted that every outcome aligns with its cause and proudly noted that OPaL saves around ₹250 crores annually through best practices like energy efficiency.
Shri Sanjay Varma, Director – Marketing & Corporate Strategies, expressed his pride in being part of the OPaL family. He highlighted OPaL’s significant role in reducing the country’s petrochemical imports and aligning with the government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Acknowledging the confidence of parent company ONGC in OPaL, he reminded the team of the challenges of living in a VUCA world—Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous. Inspiring the team, he shared a powerful message: “If you respond to change, you will succeed. If you move along with change, you will survive. But if you make the change, you will lead.”
In his absence, Shri Atul Chaturvedi, Director – Finance and Commercial, conveyed his warmest wishes to the team through a video message. He expressed his pride in OPaL’s remarkable achievements. He emphasized the importance of building a financially strong and commercially vibrant OPaL that stands as a model of success in the industry.
Shri Gurinder Singh, Managing Director, shared his thoughts on the extraordinary journey of the organization. He highlighted that the pursuit of excellence, determination, grit, and the leadership's commitment to empowering capable individuals form the very DNA of OPaL. He emphasised that true success lies in a customer-centric approach, not merely in competing, and pledged that with determination and passion, OPaL would exceed all expectations and set new standards of excellence. Shri Singh also extended heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders for their unwavering support and faith, which continue to drive OPaL’s achievements.
The celebrations reached new heights as the audience was treated to a vibrant showcase of OPaL’s in-house talent. Cultural performances, including singing, instrumental renditions, poetry, and stand-up acts, captivated the audience, leaving everyone energized and engaged. In addition, the winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week were felicitated, and all participants in the OPaL Day cultural performances received tokens of appreciation. The event culminated in a grand cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the occasion. The celebration concluded on a high note with an energetic Garba and DJ Dance.
On the same day, the 18th OPaL Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm at the corporate office premises in Vadodara. OPaLians shared their heartfelt emotions and special connection with OPaL. The celebrations there also wrapped up with an energetic Garba, uniting all OPaLians in a vibrant, memorable finale.
The 18th OPaL Day celebrated our rich legacy while envisioning a future defined by Excellence, Growth and Transformation. Here's to continued success and growth in the years ahead!
