OPaLs Central Laboratory Receives NABL Accreditation
  • 01 - Sep - 2020

OPaL's Central Laboratory has received re-accreditation, scope extension and transition to ISO 17025:2017 from the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The accreditation process consisted of rigorous assessment by Technical Experts conducted on 18th & 19th Aug 2020 from peers’ organizations against internationally accepted criteria of ISO 17025:2017 (General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories). The present accreditation will be effective from 26th August 2020 till 25th August-2022. To improve the laboratory processes, for re-accreditation, Lab has increased the scope for accreditation from 201 to 233 parameters. NABL accreditation is extremely critical as it conducts a comprehensive examination of the Laboratory’s Management System as well as a Quality Management System. On all the counts, OPaL QA/QC team has completed all NABL accreditation requirements.

The primary objective of the assessment process is to check the ability of a laboratory to conduct correct, verifiable and reproducible test results. It involves an intensive and on-going quality assessment and assurance at regular intervals. ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation enhances the wider acceptability of test results among different countries; this means the test results of one country may be accepted in other countries without the need to have a retest. OPaL congratulates all the teams involved in the process of assessment and for the successful re-accreditation for the central lab.
